AOPC2020 in brief
The World Photonics Congress 2020 and the 9th International Technical Exchange on Applied Optics and Photonics (AOPC2020) were held on November 29-December 1, 2020 at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. The conference is jointly organized by the Optical Engineering Society of China (OEC) and SPIE, and it is the annual meeting of OEC, which is held once a year. This year's conference will be attended by more than 400 domestic experts and representatives. Affected by the epidemic, foreign guests did not attend the conference.

The Program Committee is chaired by Prof. Gu Min and Prof. Qiu.
Opening session
The conference was opened at 8:30 a.m. on November 30, and the host of the opening ceremony was academician Cui Tiejun. 6 academicians attended the conference, including Zhang Guangjun, Xu Zuyan, Zhou Shouhuan, Fan Dianyuan, and Chang Ruihua. Zhang Guangjun, President of Optical Engineering Society of China, made an opening speech.

Report of the General Assembly
After a brief and warm opening ceremony, the conference will start with the presentation session, which will be chaired by Prof. Qiu Min. The five presentations were exceptionally brilliant, reflecting the most cutting-edge academic and technological developments in the field of optical science and engineering in the international arena. AOPC2020 contains a total of 13 technical sessions, and 10 sessions will be held at this conference, namely, Laser Technology, Infrared Devices and Infrared Technology and Applications, Optoelectronics and Nanophotonics, International Advanced Display Technology, Spectroscopy Technology and its Applications in Multiple Fields, Micro-Opto-Mechanical Systems, Metamaterials Technology and Applications, Biomedical Photonics, Optical Information and Optical Networks, Telescopes, and Space Optics and Instrumentation, Artificial Intelligence in Optics and Photonics Applications. In addition, due to the impact of the epidemic, there are three other technical sessions have been held in advance, namely, optoelectronic detection and imaging technology, ultra-precision optical processing and detection technology, quantum information technology session.
After careful consideration and recommendation by the organizing committee and the chairman of the Academic Committee of the conference, a total of 182 domestic and foreign experts were invited to make invited reports, all the invited reports reflect the world-class academic level in the field of optics and optoelectronics technology, and the delegates gained a great deal from the one-and-a-half-day interactive discussions at the sub-communication venue.
Chapter exchange site
AOPC2020 received a total of 841 submissions, after the academic committee chairman and expert review, about 507 papers were accepted to the SPIE Proceedings papers, and 50 papers were recommended to the cooperative SCI EI journals for publication. A total of 450 papers were exchanged. The time schedule of the conference was compact, and the atmosphere of communication inside and outside the conference hall was very strong, and the discussion was warm.
At the opening of AOPC2020, the awarding ceremony of The Sixth Chinese Society of Optical Engineering Scientific and Technological Innovation Award and The Fifth National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award in Optical Engineering Disciplines was held ceremoniously. Prof. Ma Jing presided over the awarding ceremony of The Sixth Chinese Society of Optical Engineering Science and Technology Innovation Award and announced the winners, and invited 5 academicians and experts to present awards to 17 winners in the categories of scientific and technological progress and technological invention. Prof. Sun Hongbo was invited to preside over the Award Ceremony of The Fifth National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award in Optical Engineering and announced the winners, and three academicians were invited to present awards to the six winners of the Excellence Award and the seven winners of the Nomination Award.
