The 11th National Photonics Academic Conference was held in Guangzhou on November 23-25, with 413 official representatives from 98 universities, research institutes and enterprises and institutions at home and abroad attending the conference.
This conference is co-sponsored by the Professional Committee of Fiber Optics and Integrated Optics of Optical Society of China and the Professional Committee of High-Speed Photography and Photonics of Optical Society of China, and hosted by the Institute of Photonics Technology of the University of China and the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Fiber Optic Sensing and Communication Technology. Prof. Zhao Wei, President of Xi'an Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was the chairman of the conference, and Prof. Guan Baiming, Prof. Li Baojun, and Prof. Yao Baoli of Xi'an Institute of Optical Mechanics, CAS, were the chairmen of the conference. Mr. Song Xianzhong, President of the University, made an opening speech and introduced the university and the development of optical engineering.
There are five sessions in this conference, which focus on fiber optics and integrated optics, ultrafast photonics and laser nanofabrication, biophotonics and information photonics, nanophotonics, and optoelectronic materials and devices, etc. The conference has 176 reports, including 4 keynote reports, 90 invited reports, 40 oral reports, and 40 posted reports. A total of 176 presentations will be organized, including 4 keynote presentations, 90 invited presentations, 40 oral presentations, and 42 posted presentations. Among them, the guests of invited reports are mainly the top scholars in China, such as Changjiang Scholars and National Outstanding Youth Fund recipients, etc. The academic results of the oral reports are published in Nature Photonics, Advanced Materials and other top domestic and international academic journals, and the conference reports as a whole represent the highest level of research in the field of photonics in China. During the conference, the delegates had in-depth exchanges on the latest research progress in the field, the opportunities and challenges of the development of new disciplines, and the intersection and integration of disciplines.
In the keynote report session, Prof. Fang Jiancheng, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, made a report entitled Development and Prospect of Quantum Sensing Technology, Prof. Xu Hongxing, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, made a report entitled Research on Fundamental Problems of Isoexcited Exciton Photonics and Nano-Optics, and Prof. Yao Jianping, Academician of both the Academy of Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering of Canada, made a report entitled Integrated Microwave Photonics. Professor Yao Jianping, a member of both the Canadian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Engineering, made a presentation entitled Integrated Microwave Photonics, and Professor Yuri Kivshar, a member of the Australian Academy of Sciences, made a presentation entitled All - dielectric resonant meta- optics and metasurfaces. During the interactive session, the academicians answered the questions of the delegates on the stage in depth and gave a high level outlook on the development prospect of their respective subject areas.
In the short course session, Prof. Zhou Lei of Fudan University gave an academic lecture entitled Physics and Applications of Supersurfaces, and Prof. Yuan Xiaocong of Shenzhen University gave an academic lecture entitled Singularity Beam Multiplexing Optical Interconnects for High Performance Computing. The purpose of the short course is to introduce the new trend of the development of the discipline to the students and young teachers, and lead them to challenge the academic problems and climb the scientific peak.
In order to stimulate the academic enthusiasm of postgraduates and encourage them to participate in academic exchanges, the conference set up the Outstanding Student Paper Award, which was finally selected by the expert jury through on-site questioning and secret ballot, and six winners from the University of Science and Technology of China, Shanghai Jiaotong University, South China University of Technology, Shenzhen University and Jinan University were finally selected.At the dinner of the conference on the 24th, the conference chairman, Prof. Zhao Wei presented certificates and prizes to the winners.
